ZOWIE 16 Cup: Brackets

With 4 days until the ZOWIE 16 Cup is live, let's take a look at the teams! Brackets, team rosters and seeds can be found in the widget below. The rules and schedule are also in this post to remind teams before the event.

Rules

The format of the cup is single elimination, with each fixture as a best-of-three. The map pool is the same as ETF2L, with map elimination (rules below). The whitelist is the same as the ETF2L Season 23 whitelist. Any unstated rules should be assumed to mirror ETF2L's, with admins' decisions carrying the final word to preserve fair play and good sportsmanship. Any disputes can be relayed to admins through the tftv discord.
Substitute Rules: Teams must retain 4 of the same players throughout the tournament unless permission is granted by an admin in extenuating circumstances. Teams should report opponents they see abusing this rule through the teamfortresstv discord.
Map elimination will be as follows: teams begin by banning a map each, then picking a home map, then banning a final one each. The map that remains is the decider. The lower seed team bans first, with teams alternating.

Schedule

The cup will begin at 15CET, and teams should make contact with the opposition beforehand to arrange map vetoes and servers.
RO16 - 15:00 CET
Quarter Final - 17:00 CET
Semi-Final - 19:15 CET
Final - 21:30 CET

Fully Charged!: TF2 Panel Show

Fully Charged is a panel show that was originally hosted by Sal and Cbear, covering North American TF2 news. In the 70 or so episodes since its creation, it has spawned a European sister show and has swapped hosts a few times.

The European version is co-host mostly by myself and Admirable, with Getawhale and BUICK covering the newest version of its North American counterpart. The show brings in guests from the top of the scene and we discuss various topical issues.

The playlist for the shows I have been involved in, both as guest and host, are linked below. I will create a new post on the site every time I host a new episode.

top5 rocket fold

top5 Rocket finished second place in High in Season 21 with a roster that had been together since Division 4 in Season 18. They were unable to fulfil their goal of making it to Premiership however as they lost the promotion battle against  LEGO, and so stuck together in High for Season 22 where they repeated the feat and managed 2nd place behind  4SKINGS. They finally seemed set on their path to Premiership.
Unfortunately, the loss of their scout  Opti due to work commitments was a fatal blow for the team during the offseason. The team could not find a suitable replacement, and so reluctantly decided to part ways.
 Ombrack on the team's decision:
Opti left and we couldn't find a proper replacement - I thought about fl1p a bit too late. He said yes to AMS along with Medico. It's really unfortunate that we can't play together anymore. We had great stability, great synergy, and everybody would have preferred keeping on playing together rather than going in other teams. Going prem as a team was the dream, so it's a shame we couldn't make it happen. At least it was close enough. We'll go to GA together anyway.
Players from top5 are being picked up by other teams already.  Medico joined Publiclir.se as roamer,Ombrack has been seen trialling for  Planet Express, and  Blitzo has allegedly been declined by Reason Gaming after trialling. He continues to look for a team, whilst  Kaiizo and  Néo are planning to offclass for a French team in a lower division.
The roster for  top5 Rocket was:
  •  Scout Opti
  •  Scout Blitzo
  •  Roamer Néo
  •  Pocket Medico
  •  Demoman Kaiizo
  •  Medic Ombrack

Publiclir.se finalise roster

Publiclir.se started with a full roster at DreamHack Winter, where members of their team enjoyed playing with each other and decided to play further online with a view towards GA. Initially only  ondkaja and Herr_P were unable to play due to schedule difficulties, but this roster became increasingly altered as Season 23 drew closer.
Serotone was the first to be added to the roster on the medic role. He is a medic who has synergy with pocket  AMS from days in  TLR, where both players have top level Premiership experience and LAN experience at i55.
It was after this pickup that the team began to radically change however. Sources close to the team suggest they were not content with the ability of their roamer  Nation, and fundamentally disagreed on playstyles, leading to him being cut from the team. Shortly afterwards, AMS and Serotone allegedly decided they were not content with  Dennia's playstyle and so the Swedish scout was removed from the roster as well.
This left  Publiclir.se with half of a roster and only two original players. A range of players were spotted trialling for the team, and during the ETF2L Pre-season 23 Cup they used a trial roster. This roster was reasonably successful, making it to the Final where they were beaten by  Planet Express. On the back of this, the team decided to pick up those players.
The new scout combo sees  fl1p, last spotted a year ago playing in 4th place S20  Awsomniac, paired with  Atomic. This will be the first time Atomic has been seen outside of a Russian team on scout in Premiership, though he has demonstrated he can call and function in an international team.
Medico is the last addition to the roster, filling in the roamer slot. He has previously been making a name for himself on pocket in  Top5 Rocket, and reportedly the team will be experimenting with rotating the soldiers to find the best fit.
Team co-captain  Smirre gave us his thoughts on the team's new roster:
We've confirmed our roster with these players for Season 23. fl1p and atomic played well in the cup and atomic has good calls. Salmon didn't perform as well as we wanted on roamer, and we're gonna try around what works best in the roamer/pocket department. We are ok with the end result in the cup, it was our first day with a full roster, and we're aiming top 3 in Premiership this season. At least that's what we want!
The roster for  Publiclir.se is:
  •  Scout fl1p
  •  Scout Atomic
  •  Roamer Medico
  •  Pocket AMS
  •  Demoman Smirre
  •  Medic Serotone

Zebbosai leaves Reason Gaming

Originally posted at: http://www.teamfortress.tv/31101/zebbosai-leaves-reason-gaming

Reason Gaming have been top of the European scene since their 3rd place finish at i55, albeit losing in the Challengers Cup to  #tf2center before their roster had cemented. With the fall of  nerdRage after i55 and the shuffle that followed, Reason gathered talent in the form of scout  Stark and (after flirting with Rising for half of the season) roamer  ZebbosaiZebbosai had been a question mark over the team in September as he stated he was interested in pursuing CS:GO rather than carrying on at the elite level in TF2. Nonetheless in week 5 he became part of the Reason roster, and the addition of the supremely strongnerdRage flank allowed them to overcome #tf2center in the ETF2L S22 playoffs and cruise to victory at DreamHack Winter.
Zebbosai gives us his thoughts on why he has left the Reason Gaming roster:
I left the team cause I've become bored with TF2 and I need a break away from it. I think if I had wanted to, I could have stayed on the lineup so it was simply up to me, but we never discussed my staying on the roster. It was a given. Nonetheless my time with Reason was great, I'm glad I had a chance to play with Hafficool and kaptain, because both of them are kinda new to the "top scene" and those players always have more motivation.
Sources close to the team suggest that Stark will be swapping over to roaming soldier, leaving the team currently trialling scouts but with an open eye toward good roamers. Notable scouts spotted playing withReason have included  zen and  Blitzo, with names like  gf18 Drackk and  Thalash also floated for the spot.
The roster for  Reason Gaming is now:
  •  Scout Hafficool
  •  Roamer Stark
  •  Pocket kaptain
  •  Demoman kaidus
  •  Medic Permzilla

Team Infused pick up new team

Originally posted at: http://www.teamfortress.tv/31104/team-infused-pick-up-new-team

Team Infused is an organisation with a rich history in TF2. There have been two vastly different rosters from this team over the span of TF2's history, both of them at an elite level within the European scene. After we take a look at the new roster for Team Infused, we'll take a look at the history of this name.
Team Infused this season are a new team, formed aiming to make waves in Premiership. They are likely to be given a spot in the Premiership Playoffs which will act as a proving ground for these upcoming players to test themselves against low Premiership talent. Their roster for Season 23 is:
  •  Scout Dennia
  •  Scout Hank
  •  Roamer Quik
  •  Pocket Thaigrr
  •  Demoman Adysky
  •  Medic skeej
skeej and Hank both have Premiership experience, with skeej being by far the most experienced player on the team. Both Quik and Thaigrr have subbed and flirted with teams around a low Premiership level in the past, but neither are known for long-term stints with a top 10 team. Adysky is the least experienced player on the team but is well-known within the Highlander community as demoman for Fair EnoughAdysky is now making the lateral move over to attempt to break into Premiership 6s as well.
Team captain Thaigrr spoke on the team becoming part of Infused:
I think that the team has very good potential to do well, it has some players who have been in the game for quite a long time. Everyone seems to have a very positive attitude towards the way we play, everyone is a team player. Our first season will be a tough one, brand new team with people who do not have as much experience as others but I think that this season will be the one for improvement and experience building. For us to live up to the old Team Infused name and hype, we are going to need atleast a couple of seasons behind us, but we are not looking to be a one season team. As for our aims, we are aiming to get a good season of prem under our belts, I think if we carry on to play how we have been we can easily take maps and matches from already established teams and put ourselves in a good position.

Previous Infused Lineups

The first Infused lineup was one of the only teams to break the reign of dominance that  Epsilon eSportsruled over. That roster was packed full of UK talent:  dunc numlocked Mike, and  Greg formed the core for the most successful year. Greg had originally moulded this roster around him and taken the basis from a less elite but highly LANable UK team, whose main achievement was robbing Team Thermaltake of the i42 victory in a huge LAN upset shrouded in the mists of time. Infused were the i-series home team. After reforming the roster they took 2nd place at i43 and then placed 1st at i44 and i45, all the while tussling withEpsilon online. Season 10 found them in 2nd place, and over the course of Season 11 they looked to be playing second fiddle as well until a substitute of  Fisshu for Greg on the second scout role saw them upset the favourites, and a new European champion was crowned. They tried to take that victory forward into Season 12 and i46, but were denied each time by both  TCM and Epsilon - and in the case of i46 they were among good company as every European team was picked apart by  Classic Mixup &  LG.
Fast forward a year from i46 to i49, and we find ourselves face to face with the newer  Infused. This team had been under the Crack Clan banner for 3 online seasons, but split with cc due to internal disagreements. This team had already established themselves as a solid 3rd place European team, with a consistent rivalry against  broder which they repeatedly came out the worse for. After finding sponsorship from Infused, the team went to i49 with a roster brimming with talent but little LAN experience ( 2Nuts kaidus T-Mac Ipz Smzi Tviq) and in the end succumbed to a mixture of under-performance and lack of competitive drive. The 5th/6th place finish mimicked Infused's performance at i46, and in the context of European dominance was a disappointing result for the team. Nonetheless, Infused had a solid year of being the third best team in Europe to add to their legacy.
Update: Team Infused confirm 2nd scout - Dennia.
